My sister and I are Aussiedoodles, born in Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, British Columbia. I’ve just had my 3rd birthday and Clover is 2. We are from the same parents but from different litters.
We lived on land in Nanaimo close to wonderful walking trails in the Linley Valley area until Louise and Andy (our human parents) brought another sail boat called EOS and we moved on full time at the end of July 2024. We were used to being on a boat, sailing around Vancouver Island so moving on EOS full time was a piece of cake! Being carried up and down the ladder was a bit tricky but dad didn’t drop us (thank goodness).
At first, doing our business on board took time getting used to but once we got some astro turf we figured it out! I had a few accidents where my bed was beyond saving and on a night passage my full bladder let go all over mom at 2am – I did get a nice warm shower afterwards though after mom had finished swearing! Clover also got us banned from the bed cause she pee’d all over the covers right down to the mattress protector so we had to sleep in the salon – that took a lot getting used to and dad was very grumpy but after a week we wore him down and we are back on and under the covers.

Here is what a typical day looks like for Clover and I:
- Wake up at around 7am and go on deck for a pee – if its cold we get back into bed, Clover isn’t a morning dog and can be quiet cranky;
- 8am – get taken to shore for a poop and a walk, this time changes cause Dad sometimes has to work;
- 9am – Breakfast (horrid dog kibble and maybe a nice pancake or some scrambled egg);
- 10am – Walk around the boat and have a good bark at anyone who is on our beach or getting too close to our boat;
- If we are at anchor we have another nap or bark at anyone waking us up or on the beach (Clover can be quite cross at people or dogs on her beach, she had very good eyesight);
- If we are on passage – we mostly just sleep until dad opens a packet of crisps or cookies – we are very good at begging;
- Clover likes to have a swim if mom is having one but I like to have my feet on the ground so will just paddle close to shore, could be because I fell in when we were in Crescent City and Clover pushed me in (she said it wasn’t on purpose but I’m not so sure);
- 4-5pm – we get to go to shore again for a play and paddle on the beach or we get to go for a walk along the promenade and sniff all kinds of things or pick up anything that smells good enough to eat – Clover ate some marijuana in La Paz, but that’s a story for another time;
- 6-7pm Dinner. Once that’s done, then I get pushy for some Charlie Bears, my favourite treats.
- 8-9pm Clover normally goes mad around now. She likes to play hard and bites my tail – she can be mean sometimes (most of the time actually);
- 9-10pm Bed time.
We are still a bit scared around people that we don’t know but once we realize you are okay we really love you! Clover will try and stick her tongue down your throat. And we aren’t too fond of other dogs either, but so long they don’t get too close we are getting used to these Mexican pups
